Who would benefit from an Arm Lift?
How do we do the Arm Lift?
Depending on the amount of work required, fat is removed with liposuction and the skin removed to leave a straight line scar on the inside of the upper arm from armpit to elbow.
This procedure can be done under a general anaesthetic or sedation. The patients can go home the same day.
What is the final result of an Arm Lift?
There will be an immediate change in the size of the upper arms. The skin heals in just 2 weeks and the final result should be visible.
Arm Lift Overview
Arm Lift surgery, often known as Brachioplasty, is a surgical operation that aims to improve the appearance of the arms.
During an Arm Lift surgery, excess skin and fat are removed from the arms, resulting in a more toned and sculpted appearance.
How do we do an Arm Lift?
Patients can typically have an arm uplift performed and go home the same day.
Patients are can have the procedure under general anaesthetic where they are put to sleep or with sedation.
The incision most commonly is from the armpit along the inside of the upper am leaching the elbow.
The wounds are closed with dissolving stitches and dressed to ensure the area is kept clean and dry.
Each patient is immediately placed into medical-grade compression garments to support help postoperatively.
What do we do before an Arm Lift?
When clients come into the clinic, our UK trained plastic surgeon with expert knowledge makes a full assessment.
The surgeon establishes reasons sought for Arm Lift surgery and what the client hopes to achieve as an end result.
The amount of skin and fat is assessed to help with surgical planning.
It is important for the patient to be appropriately counselled to understand the whole process including surgery and after surgery.
Patients are given at least 2 weeks to make a considered decision and only once both patient and surgeons are happy, does the patient proceed to surgery.
What do patients see after an Arm Lift?
Patients are put in compression garments immediately after surgery to help support the wounds.
As soon as they are comfortable, patients will be able to notice the change in shape of the arms. There will be some swelling but there should not be any pain.
Once ready, patients can go home with pre-booked follow up appointments.
Patients are seen in the clinic at 2 weeks to check the wounds by the surgeon who operated on them.
What are the alternatives to an Arm Lift ?
Measures such as wearing compression clothing work for smaller amounts of loose skin.
Non-surgical alternatives include using radiofrequency machines to encourage tightening of the skin but there tends to work on small up to moderate amounts of loose skin.
What kind of patients would benefit from an Arm Lift ?
There tend to be two types of patients who benefit from an arm lift.
One is those who have lost a lot of weight and now have loose skin under the upper part of the arms extending from the armpit to the inside of the elbow.
The second type tends to be older patients (50’s onwards) who have lost the elasticity of the skin and tend to have extra fat and skin.
